Joey Amanchukwu, Class of 2007
Joey is currently employed by Red Hat as a Sales Executive leading strategic pursuits with the DoD USMC and NAVY, federal, and state/local agencies within the North America Public Sector business unit. He’s a proud open source advocate, member of the Open Source Initiative and 100 Black Men of America. Joey’s professional career spans across roles in sales and engineering, business development, marketing and product development. He’s won numerous awards for his sales achievements and in 2014, was awarded Dell Technologies most prestigious Account Executive of the Year award and participated in the company’s Circle of Excellence. While at Dell, he orchestrated a $250M deal with Dropbox helping them migrate the core of their storage business out of Amazon Web Services in 2015 and at Red Hat he lead a multi-million dollar sales engagement with LinkedIn as they migrated their social network off of Sun Microsystems to Red Hat before being acquired by Microsoft. In the community, Joey mentors young people of color on career advancement, personal development strategies and provide tips on how best to navigate the corporate ladder in the tech industry.
In his free time, Joey enjoys fishing, playing chess, basketball, reading and spending time with friends and family. Joey is married to his wife Alvita of 11 years and has two beautiful daughters named Sydney (age 9) and Emily Faith (age 3). Joey is a native of North Carolina and attended Saint Augustines College in Raleigh where he studied computer science.
