Fredrick Thomas, Class of 1992
Fredrick L. Thomas is the youngest of 5 children born to Albert G. Thomas Sr. and Florence E. Thomas.
Fredrick is a School Counselor at Leesville Rd Middle School, where he has been for the last 15 years. Fredrick has been in the Education field for more than 26 years. He started his professional career immediately after graduating from Saint Augustine’s College in 1992 with a BS in Criminal Justice.
His first job with Wake County Public Schools was as a Teacher Assistant in a Behavior Emotional Disable Classroom (BED) at Rolesville Elementary. He was there for a year and a half. He left there to start the Omega C.H.A.M.P.S. Mentoring Program. Fredrick was the Founding Director of what has become a well-respected program in the Raleigh Area of Youth Mentoring Programs. Omega C.H.A.M.P.S. was one of 5 state-sponsored Mentoring Programs and the only Fraternity directed program statewide.
Fredrick felt the need to return to the classroom of Wake County Public Schools; this time, he entered as a Science and Math teacher to Special needs students at Fuquay – Varina Middle School. During this time, Fredrick worked on his Master’s of School Counselor at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. Upon completing this Degree, Fredrick was able to move into a Counseling position at East Garner Middle School, where he remained for eight years. After his father died in 2001, Fredrick applied and was accepted into the MS School Administration program at NCSU.
After the death of his mother in 2005 and after eight years at East Garner, Fredrick felt a calling to move again a little higher. He had an opportunity to be an Assistant Principal at GC Hawley Middle School in Granville Co. After a year of service to the students and the community of Granville County; he had to return to Wake County due to family illness. In 2006, he married the former LaDonna Clark, and in 2011, they were blessed with their son Logan.
During Brother Thomas’ short time in Omega, he has impacted the lives of Brothers at the local, district, and international levels. If you were to ask Brother Thomas what his motivation is, he would say, “To whom much is given, much is required.”
