Alandrea Anderson, Class of 1999
I graduated from Saint Augustine’s College in 1999 with a B.S. in Accounting. In 2004, I received my law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law. During law school, I participated in a number of activities including moot court and law journal. I interned for a personal injury firm, a U.S. Attorney’s Office, and a federal magistrate judge. I gained practical experience from my internships and a semester in the Juvenile Law clinic. After graduating from law school and passing the bar exam, I began working as a prosecutor with the District Attorney’s office in Gaston County, North Carolina where I specialized in prosecuting cases under the Violence Against Women Act. Next, I defended people accused of crimes as an Assistant Public Defender. In both of these roles I was able to gain a better understanding of criminal law and the criminal justice system. I currently work as an Attorney-Adviser for the Social Security Administration. I have been there for almost seven years.
