Jimmy Coleman, Class of 2007

Jimmy Coleman is a corporal at the University of Texas at Austin Police Department. Jimmy was born and raised in Knightdale, North Carolina. He was born to the late Dr. Jimmy Coleman (A Saint Augustine’s College Alumnus) and Mrs. Linda Coleman. He attended Southeast Raleigh High School and went on to graduate from Saint Augustine’s College in 2007 with his bachelor’s degree, majoring in Sociology. He has one son, named Elijah Jimmy Coleman. 

He started his career out in law enforcement at Butner Public Safety as a dispatcher in 2007. Corporal Coleman has since worked in various law enforcement and public safety capacities across the states of North Carolina and Texas. He is assigned to the investigation and mitigation unit where he will assist with solving misdemeanor and felony crimes, such as burglary, sexual assault, and threats made to the university. Corporal Coleman is an exemplary officer who has received numerous awards and commendations for his work ethic, professionalism, and compassion. 

Corporal Coleman was commended for his dedication and compassion in the search and location of a missing child. He has a passion to help those who can’t help themselves. Corporal Coleman believes his calling is to serve people and that his purpose is to do so in the law enforcement capacity. One of his favorite scriptures comes from (Matthew 5:9) “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.”
